Quantitative analysis is the process of transforming text (words, verses, sentences) into measurable data. Rather than reading text solely in a linear fashion, we use statistical tools to identify patterns, structures, and anomalies within the textual framework that the human eye might overlook.
How can structure generate “meaning and beauty”?
We believe that the architecture of a text—the way it is constructed—is an inseparable part of its message. By analyzing the “skeleton” of a text (for example, the transition between short and long sentences), we uncover the inherent beauty of the work and the author’s original intent.
What is the AVL index, and how does it assist my research?
The AVL (Average Verse Length) index measures the length of textual units. This was TwoHillsLab’s first major breakthrough: using AVL analysis to characterize Biblical books and their respective genres—a discovery recently featured on Ynet. It is a powerful tool for identifying stylistic transitions (such as poetry vs. prose), detecting later editorial interventions, verifying textual authenticity, and defining the periodic and stylistic signatures of various authors within a broad corpus.
Is the platform intended only for Biblical scholars?
No. Although TwoHillsLab grew out of the world of Biblical studies, our tools are relevant to 99% of all texts: from historical archives (such as the JDC) and modern literature to the analysis of ancient inscriptions or numerical lists. If it contains text, we can analyze it.
Can AI replace TwoHillsLab?
We don’t view Artificial Intelligence as a replacement, but as a “superpower.” It allows us to streamline the process and provide our readers with winning results at unprecedented speed and cost-effectiveness. While AI handles the “heavy lifting,” we provide the vision and execution. As of today, AI cannot replace the specialized structural analysis we perform.
How is TwoHillsLab different from standard AI chatbots (like ChatGPT)?
